unable to associate devkit device

I ordered a devkit and am having trouble associating the device with my test merchant in the sandbox. After entering the serial number, the 'associate device' button is still disabled. In fact, the input field limits the s/n to 14 characters, and the s/n on the device I received is 15 characters. I have tried using the s/n that identifies the card reader in the app (which is 13 characters) to no avail. Any help is appreciated!

fyi the device is a clover go. the s/n on the box and device follows this scheme: 17016RP1000xxxx (15 characters). The device ID when I open the app and connect the device follows: RP450-1000xxxx (13 characters). The 8 digits at the end of both strings are identical.
