Development Kit vs regular Clover Flex Terminal?

What is the difference between developing with a development kit and a regular Clover Flex terminal?
If I think I need a MID for the test, can I get the test MID only with the development kit?

One difference: A regular Clover Flex terminal will be hitting a production payment gateway and taking real transactions. A development kit will be hitting a test gateway and not taking real transactions.

I have further question

If I buy a development kit, can we continue to use it for development? Or is there a development expiration date?

There is no development expiration that I am aware of. At some point the device itself may be no longer supported but that would be many many years in the future.
