Unfortunately we do not allow the use of other payment gateways when creating a Clover App for our Clover App Market. It is required that the payments be processed by a First Data payment gateway.
If you decide to use a First Data payment gateway, you will need to complete the certification process if you will be publishing a Clover App on our Clover App Market.
Yes, you can build a 3rd party POS with your own custom front end checkout, and if you do not have any custom hardware, this would be a
full integration with a Clover device. That means your POS will be an app that will be published on our Clover App Market.

It is recommended to order a DevKit for development and testing, especially if you need to test secure payments, receipt printing, or barcode scanning.
