Question regarding Clover Hosted iframe

Hi,

I have a question regarding the Clover Host iframe referenced here: https://docs.clover.com/docs/using-the-clover-hosted-iframe

Do I need to have an actual app to get the PAKMS key? I've created an API key for the single merchant that would be used and attempted to go to https://docs.clover.com/reference/getapikey and get the key. I also attempted it in Postman but got a similar result.

Is there a different approach that is needed? In my testing environment I had an app already so I used that and everything was working. Curious if the app is required to work with the embedded iframe. I'm attempting to generate the PAKMS key in a production environment without success but I'm more curious if the app is really needed to make the embedded iframe work.

Thank you for any information you could provide.

-Steve

Hey, in order to get a PAKMS key, you will need to get an OAuth token, which requires an app to be downloaded by the merchant. In order to make any REST API calls you will need to have the proper authentication from Clover to do so.
Take a look at our OAuth documentation and video: https://docs.clover.com/docs/configuring-oauth-20

Steps in getting a PAKMS key can be found here: https://docs.clover.com/docs/ecommerce-generating-a-card-token#generating-a-pakms-key

Hi Bryan,

I've been having back and forth with Sauptik regarding this through an email chain. I'm currently past this and waiting to hear back in regards to a couple of other question: How to filter on a merchant's transaction report to specifically see just the submissions from the Clover Hosted iframe and the question of if it is possible to take a private app that is tied to one Clover account and install it on a merchant that is on another account without making the app public.

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I'd be happy to answer your latter question. Yes, you can take a private app and install it to another merchant without making it public. It is called an "app push". You can email developer-relations@devrel.clover.com and request "APP ID: xyzzy be pushed to Merchant Name: xyz with MID: xyz" and they will complete the push. There is also a way for the developer to do it within their dashboard if they have the merchant ID (MID).

Best,

Natalie
