Clover Solo w/Optional Flex

Since the Solo no longer has NFC functionality - is it possible to use the Flex as the "Actual Card Terminal" and the Solo just hosts the POS software? Solo facing staff, flex facing cardholder. Queue up transaction in Solo - customer interacts with FLEX to complete payment?

This may be possible as a temporary solution; however, we do not plan to allow NFC functionality on future generations of Flex devices.

okay thank you. Is there a reason for the reduction in support for NFC?

We have found the Android library for non-payments NFC to be unstable. We are investigating accessories that could be used for NFC purposes. You can find more about why we disabled android.nfc in our announcement. If you have a specific use case you'd like to discuss, please email Developer Relations.

Yes; Payment NFC refers to payments made via tap transactions using credit cards or smart devices (phones/watches). These will continue to be used by Clover's payment processing capabilities.
