Customers unable to order due to street address

Hi, When customers are using our online shopping cart. The credit card will fail if the customers bill to address isn't exactly as it is listed on the customers credit card statement. Example, if they street address is 123 Main Street and the customer enters it as 123 Main St. the card will be declined. Or PO Box 24, instead of P.O. Box 24 it will be declined. Can I change the security settings so this kind of address won't be declined?

Unfortunately, changing security settings won't fix the credit card decline issue. This is because banks prioritize address verification for security reasons. The good news is there's a simpler solution! Instead of changing settings, try suggesting to your customers to double-check their billing address during checkout and ensure it exactly matches their credit card statement. Even small differences like "St." vs "Street" can cause problems. For more info on best practices for checkout addresses, you can check out Clover's documentation ([Find Out More](link to Clover documentation on checkout addresses.

Customers encountering difficulties with ordering due to street address issues can find assistance through various avenues. First, ensure the accuracy of the provided address, double-checking for any typos or missing details. If the problem persists, reach out to customer support for personalized assistance. Meanwhile, consider offering a temporary solution, such as ordering by phone or email, to accommodate affected customers. As a gesture of goodwill, provide them with custom tote bags featuring your brand logo or a thoughtful message. These bags not only resolve the immediate issue but also leave a lasting impression of excellent customer service.

This issue happens because the billing address entered must match the one on the credit card statement exactly. Small differences like "St." instead of "Street" can cause the transaction to fail. This is a common consumer issue related to strict address verification systems. To fix this, you can try adjusting the eCommerce fraud settings in your Clover dashboard under Account & Setup.
