Separate apks for customer- and merchant-facing Station Duo units?

Reading through the CFP documentation, I see that separate activities are needed for the merchant- and customer-facing units, but do they have to be in separate apks that are installed on each unit, or do they live in the same apk?

I don't know much about this, but same APK should be fine.
