Do we need to use RetrieveDeviceStatus request before any transaction in Payment connector?

We are doing native clover integration and some time we didn't get callback during RetrievePayment request, so do we need to use RetrieveDeviceStatus before any request sent?

Payment Connector does not have a retrieveDeviceStatus API.
