associate categories with Items

Hi

I would like to know if there is any limit for assigning number of products to categories .For example If category BEER is assigned more than 5000 items would it be valid or there is any limitation.Since I am getting below error -

Too many items in category 5WE7WD8PQCECY (4976 items, 4681 items max)
Inventory

Yes, as the message indicates, 4681 is the maximum.

But if I have more products than 4681 for same category than how to assign those products?

You can't add more items than the limit, you will need to split up your categories.
