Our company provides payment solutions for closed environments like colleges, universities and corporate cafeterias. Student and staff have meal plans, account balances and that can be used for purchases. What API requests can be used to send transaction requests to our system?

You want to be notified of payments so that you can record them in your system? You may want to investigate webhooks - https://docs.clover.com/docs/webhooks. In order to use webhooks you will need a Clover web application (https://docs.clover.com/docs/clover-development-basics-web-app) which will need to go through our approval process (https://docs.clover.com/docs/developer-app-approval).
Our systems will be operating as the payment gateway. Therefore a request will be made to our system for $8.95 and we will approve or deny the request based on funds available for the student or employee. The users will use their student card or employee card as a method or identification. The card number will be sent with the transaction request for approval to our systems. We also have an API that is available for such integration but we are just not sure if it will be entertained by Clover.

You should contact appmarketbusiness@clover.com and provide them with details on your integration proposal. It may take awhile to get a response but they can tell you if this sounds like an allowable integration.
