Unable to refund a payment from Web dashboard.

We have orders and payments done from a Clover Mini 2 device using the Clover SDKs. Usually when we go to a specific payment/transaction of an order (from the web dashboard), a refund button appears in the bottom which enables us to refund that specific payment.

But there's a payment done by a debit card and the refund button doesn't get appeared for this specific payment.

Only transactions within 90 days can be refunded from the dashboard. Maybe that is the issue, hard to say without more detail.

This is because this was a PIN debit transaction. A PIN debit can't be refunded card-not-present. The card must be presented and the PIN must be entered. Even then, a special entitlement is required by the merchant to do so.

Thanks for the clarification. We have a couple of other questions on this.


1. We checked the Payment attached to this Order and the tender of it has the label 'Debit Card'.
However, there's a separate Tender defined for this business for 'External PIN Debit' as well.
If this order was a PIN Debit transaction, wouldn't the attached payment tender be this External PIN Debit tender?


2. Is there a way to disable 'PIN Debit' transactions for a merchant. If so, what are the steps to disable it?

1) No, The External PIN Debit tender allows PIN debit transactions run on a completely separate standalone terminal to be recorded on a Clover device. This was useful on Station 1 prior to the availability of the FD40. Merchants could create an order on the Station, accept payment by PIN debit card on a separate terminal, and then record the payment on the Station.

2) Not certain, if there is way beyond disabling debit cards.
