Should we display alternative item name?

We are working on integrating our 3rd party online ordering platform with Clover POS. We are finding that many of the menu items in the Clover POS are not consumer friendly. Should we have the shop update the regular name or alternative name?

Most places where an employee sees an item they see the item name, not the alt item name. You can experiment with the system to prove that to yourself. Also, customers will see the item name on customer facing screens and receipts.

The purpose of the alternate item name is to provide a kitchen-worker friendly name for the item. If so selected, and if the alt name is set, the alt name is printed on kitchen receipts. It might be terminology that the kitchen staff is accustomed to or it might be in a different language.

Ok, so typically the required field name is typically the consumer friendly version?

All I can say is that the alt name is intended for kitchen receipts. There's no restriction as to what merchants can put into the item name field. It's up to them. You could imagine a hypothetical merchant that decides to put product codes into the item name. That's not customer-friendly, but they sure can do it if they want.
