Restaurants need real time inventory. Servers need to know how many items such as specials are available during a night. We have had to go back to using chalk and a black board. Inventory needs to be able to count down when ordered not when the check is closed. There also needs to be option that when an item is returned it goes back into inventory. If a guest chooses the wrong bottle of wine and it needs to be returned it should go back into inventory. If a guest sends a steak back and its returned this should not be returned to inventory as its unsellable. Need both options.
