How to disable NFC on nfc printer?

I noticed that the NFC reader starts reading when the payments screen is loaded. We have a few circumstances where we would like to delay the customer from being able to provide payment immediately. Is there a way to disable the nfc reader on the printer in certain scenarios?

Can you provide a detailed flow of screens / steps and what is happening vs. what you would like to happen? "Payment screen" could refer to a lot of places in the payment flow.

The page where you select the Tender and can set split payments.
