addVariablePriceLineItem Method Parameters

On the OrderConnector class can you confirm what the below parameters are used for on the addVariablePriceLineItem:

  1. String binName
  2. String userData

I am trying to understand how each parameter is used and how it can be seen within the Clover Order screen ?
