What are merchant groups in the developer panel?

Can I have more information or documentation?

Up to 2 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 512.0 KiB each and 1.0 MiB total.

I'm pretty sure these just show where your app is visible in the sections in the app store (notice the drop down arrow when you visit the app store). As far as I know they are also used by sales people and merchants to find your app more easily.
