What leads to QuickBooks Error H202, and how can I fix it?

I'm having trouble with QuickBooks Error H202 when trying to switch to multi-user mode. It indicates that my company file is on a different computer, preventing the connection. I’ve restarted the server, but it hasn’t helped. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!

QuickBooks Error H202 arises when users attempt to switch to multi-user mode but QuickBooks is unable to connect with the server that hosts the company file. This error blocks access to the company file in a multi-user setup.

Causes of QuickBooks Error H202:

  • Firewall blocking incoming or outgoing connections.
  • Incorrect hosting configuration settings.
  • Corrupted .ND file.
  • Issues with the DNS server or network connectivity.

Solutions for QuickBooks Multi-User Mode Error H202:

  • Check hosting settings and ensure the server supports multi-user access.
  • Add QuickBooks to the firewall exceptions list.
  • Use QuickBooks File Doctor to fix network issues.
  • Verify DNS server settings and confirm stable network connectivity.

Following these steps should help resolve Error H202 and restore multi-user functionality.
