In the context of Clover a merchant ID is a UUID generated as an identifier for each individual merchant account. Note that because each merchant account is associated with a single location, real-world merchants with more than one location may have multiple Clover merchant accounts, and therefore multiple merchant IDs
Employee IDs exist within the scope of a single merchant account. The owner of the business (along with managers and employees) each have an employeeID associated with their account.
As an example, in the OAuth Response the merchantid identifies which business is accessing your app. The employeeid tells you which employee is currently logged in.
