update paymentState to paid

I want to update the payment sate to paid using the "Update an order" route(REST Api), the response is 200 but paymentState remains as open.

is this even possible? or the payment has to be done by Clover?

Used the "Create a payment record on an order" route and it worked out fine. For some reason "Update an order" route doesn't update the paymentState.
