Once you have the auth token it is valid for the amount of time configured in SNPD's settings.

Does SNPD impose a maximum? Can it be infinite?

Each time a connection is established the pairing response handler will be called with a new token. As long as you store that token and the POS attempts a connection once per expiration period you will always have a token that works (without the merchant having to manually repair).
