Web Apps Under Review for over 3 months

As the title states, a couple apps have been submitted, but have been under review for the last 3 or so months, not sure if this is normal or not.

Is there anything that can be done to expedite this process? Or just wait it out?

What is the current average review time? 3 months is really incredibly long, why does it take so long?
