Missmatched Versions

Our current App Version is 1.10. Our database shows that there is a Merchant who is on version 1.08 of our app. This same Merchant got an error that relates to the version 1.08 of our app. Clover.com lists this Merchant's Version as 1.10 on the You Apps->Merchants page.

I haven't contacted the Merchant because this is a Demo Account for First Data. It just seems odd that Clover's site shows the Merchant as having the latest version of our app yet evidence says otherwise. Could it be some kind of testing that Clover / First Data is doing?

In short, I wouldn't worry about it unless you see a trend with real merchants.

I suspect that is showing what they should have not what they do have. There's no guarantee when or even if a device will get an update because of poor network or what have you. Also, if the device is not a Clover device, updates are dependent on the user explicitly accepting the install making it even more likely they'll be out of date.

That's why your APIs should always be written to continue to work with older versions of the app (not saying your aren't, just in general).
