What happens when chip card is damaged?

Our customer would like to know what happens when a damaged chip card is detected. How does it effect the payment flow on the Clover Mini? Does it prompt for a swipe as backup?

You'll be prompted to swipe the card & ultimatly you can manually enter the card number.
