Does Clover return an identifier for the Cash Drawer and/or tray that is in the device?

Just wondering if Clover distinguishes the actual cash drawer and tray connected to a Clover station for the situation where a customer uses different cash drawers with the same Clover station.

Thanks for any feedback.

Cash drawers are accessed via a connection from a printer. If you have multiple cash drawers connected to different printers (which is the only way you could have multiple cash drawers connected), opening a cash drawer will popup a dialog asking which cash drawer to open.

Jeff,

Thanks for the elaboration. The scenario I'm enquiring about is a little different.

Imagine a scenario where a cash drawer is connected to a Clover station at the start of trading, and then, mid-shift, the cash drawer is swapped out and cashed up. Another drawer is connected to the Clover station to allow trading to continue and the swapped out drawer could then be used to facilitate another cashup at a later time.

Does the Clover API report an identifier for the physical drawer used for the transaction so that we can track transactions to drawers to reconcile cashups?

No, it does not, and cannot AFAIK. There are no smarts in the cash drawer. The only "communication" is a one-way electrical pulse triggering the cash drawer to open from the receipt printer. I wouldn't be surprised if you could find a USB cash drawer that offers more interrogation capabilities and control, but we currently only integrate with receipt printer driven cash drawers.
